Pandit Deendayal Petroleum Univer MBA 2010 Admissions

MBA

The flagship two-year full time residential programme leading to Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is organized on the basis of three terms in a year. The programme is focused on energy sector with emphasis on Oil & Gas sector. Accordingly, the entire curriculum is designed to meet the requirement of the particular sector.

Courses
To complete the credit requirements of the entire programme, students take about 47-50 courses together in the first and the second year. While the first year courses are generic in nature; the second year courses (most of which are elective courses) have been specially designed to cater to the need and requirements of energy sector. Since the energy sector is global in nature all the courses focus on global business perspective.

Only those Candidates who have appeared for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs between 28th November, 2009 and December 7th, 2009 are eligible to apply. The other eligibility criteria are as stated under:

Eligibility:

“The minimum eligibility criterion for admission to MBA (Focused Oil & Gas Sector) is that the candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. The basis of computing the percentage obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be based on the practice followed by the university/ institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained bachelor's degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by the SPM by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the quotient with 100.

Candidates appearing for the final bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination can also apply. Such candidates must produce a certificate from the authority of the of the university/institution certifying that the candidate has obtained 50% marks or equivalent based on latest available grades/marks (i.e. all the years’ grade/marks except the final year grade/marks). Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2010 from certifying authority that they have completed all the requirements and have appeared for the examinations/practical etc. for the final year/final term whatever the case maybe (the results may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. However, their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification with at least 50% marks. The deadline for submission of the mark sheet and the certificate is September 30th, 2010. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.”

Prospective candidates must maintain a valid email account throughout the selection process.
