1. COMPANY PROFILE:

MECON Ltd. (MECON) was incorporated in 1973 under the Indian Companies Act, 1956 as Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants with the object of providing design and consultancy work for the Iron and Steel Industries in India. MECON is also presently undertaking project and construction management work including turn-key projects. It has undertaken diversification in Oil & Gas, Power Generations and distribution and infrastructure development. MECON is a Schedule ‘A’/Mini-ratna CPSE under the administrative control of Ministry of Steel.

Its Registered and Corporate Offices are at Ranchi, Jharkhand.

The authorised and paid up capital of the Company was Rs. 104 crore and Rs. 103.14 crore respectively as on March 31, 2009.

The shareholding of the Government of India in the company is 100%.

2. JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chairman and Managing Director is the Chief Executive of the Corporation and accountable to its Board of Directors and Government. He is responsible for the efficient functioning of the Corporation for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.

3. ELIGIBILITY

I. AGE: On the date of occurrence of vacancy:

(i) Minimum 45 years.

(ii) Not more than 58 years for internal candidates

and not more than 57 years for others.

(iii) The age of superannuation is 60 years.

II. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The applicant should be a graduate with good academic record from a recognized university/institution. He should possess adequate experience at a senior level of management in a large organization of repute.

Persons with Technical/MBA qualifications and having experience in management and familiarity with Finance, Marketing/Production will have added advantage. Knowledge of Steel industry is desirable.

Provided that minimum qualification is relaxable in the case of internal candidates with sound and adequate background and experience.

Last date of receipt of applications in PESB is 31^ST DECEMBER, 2009. No application shall be entertained under any circumstances after the stipulated date. Incomplete applications are liable to be REJECTED.
