Emerging Areas in Biotechnology & Bioengineering
(An International Symposium)

Biosciences and Bioengineering is arguably the most interdisciplinary area of research in the world today. Scientists from a wide gamut of backgrounds can and do effectively contribute to the R&D efforts in this area. The importance of this area in the development of a country in undeniable. The symposium, through invited lectures from eminent scientists from India and abroad, paper presentations from leading laboratories and poster presentations from students, will aim to give a flavor of the research areas which are envisioned to change the world in the next fifty years.

The International Symposium on Emerging Areas in Biotechnology & Bioengineering is being hosted by the School of Biosciences and Bioengineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, during 25th-28th February, 2009.


TOPICS
The symposium will focus on some important areas that are likely to have an impact in India and elsewhere. The primary focus areas will be :

  • Disease Biology
  • Drug Discovery and Delivery
  • Biosensor and Medical diagnostics
  • Medical Imaging and Computational Biosciences
  • Cell Signaling and Metabolic pathways

However, interesting submissions in any other areas in Biosciences and Bioengineering will also be considered for presentation

Early registration (upto 30 January, 2009) will attract a Rs 500 discount on the registration fee.

Accomodation:

Accomodation can be provided in the IIT Bombay campus to a limited number of participants on a first come first serve basis. Accomodation charges range from Rs. 200 per night to Rs 750 per night.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Two page abstracts that include objectives, materials and methods, results, and important results and conclusions should be sent by e-mail to the Convener, ISEABB. Abstracts should strictly follow the format available at :
