Chiranjeevi makes political debut in August
The political scene in Andhra Pradesh is set to / change dramatically with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi planning to launch his political party in August, a close aide said here Saturday. The actor's brother-in-law and filmmaker Allu Arvind told newsmen here that Chiranjeevi is likely to launch his party Aug 22, his birthday.Arvind made the statement during a rally by Chiranjeevi Nationa
l Trade Union Congress (CNTUC), a trade union in the actor's name. The rally was organised to appeal to the actor to join politics. When the rally reached Geeta Arts office in up market Jubilee Hills, Allu Arvind came out to make the statement.'Responding to appeals from different sections of the community, I am sure, he will definitely enter politics. He has taken a firm and clear decision and he will personally make an announcement,' he said. This is the clearest ever statement from Arvind, a close confidante of Chiranjeevi, since speculations on the actor's plunge into politics began a few months ago.'Some people are asking why he is taking such a long time. Politics is too big an issue and he is taking a reasonable time. He doesn't take hasty decisions. He thinks and takes a correct decision,' said Arvind.'We thank you. It is not just the trade union but the students, women, IT professional, lawyers and doctors all want him to come to politics,' he said.Sources close to the actor said the party would be called Labour Party and its symbol would be a train.'We are at a railway platform. We are waiting for a train that will take us to the right destination,' Arvind had said in January.'When will your train arrive,' a scribe had asked Chiranjeevi Thursday after he cast his vote in the by-elections. 'Allu Arvind is taking care of the train issue. Address your queries to him,' the actor had replied. It was in November last year that one of his close aides claimed that he had decided to launch a party. The speculations led to his fans holding meetings in different parts of the state to urge him to make an early announcement.Chiranjeevi, however, came out with a statement a few days later appealing to his fans to remain patient till he made an announcement. Continuing the suspense, the actor had said in January that he needed more time to take a decision.People are drawing a parallel with thespian N.T. Rama Rao's political entry in 1982. He had come to power within nine months of launching Telugu Desam Party (TDP).Chiru, as Chiranjeevi is popularly known, has dominated the Telugu film industry for over two decades. One of the highest paid actors in India, Chiru has massive fan following across the state.

'Adhinayakudu' megastar's 149th film
Chiranjeevi has indeed taken a long break, after the release of Shankar Dada Zindabad, for his next film. Several reasons, including personal problems, Ram Charan Teja's launch as hero and rumours about his political ambitions have contributed to the long delay.
With 148 films under his belt, Adhinayakudu (the working title of the movie) would be his 149th film. So the responsibility of scripting a good story for the film was handed over to Paruchuri Brothers. Keeping in mind Chiranjeevi's political aspirations, the duo prepared four different scripts and one of them was okayed? by Chiranjeevi. Paruchuri brothers reportedly left for Bangkok accompanied by director N Shankar to give the final touches to the script.
Though V. V. Vinayak, Krishnavamsi and Gunasekhar were all considered to direct Chirajeevi's 149th movie, the opportunity landed in N Shankar's eager hands. He has directed films like Encounter, Sriramulaiah and Jayam Manadera. The shooting of the film is likely to begin during May and is set to be completed by December before the forthcoming general elections. Ashwini Dutt, Allu Aravind, K Raghavendra Rao are jointly producing the movie

Rajahmundry
History
Its original name being Rajamahendri or Rajamahendravaram, it was the first capital of many known Telugu Kingdoms. The Chalukya ruler Rajaraja Narendra ruled this city around 1022. The city has traces of 11th century fine palaces and fort walls. However, new archeological evidence suggests that the city may have existed far before the Chalukyas. The original name underwent a gradual metamorphosis with the name changed to Rajahmundry during the British rule.
Nannayya, the poet laureate also called 'Adi Kavi' (The first Poet) of Telugu belonged to this place. He, along with Tikkana and Yerrana, was responsible for the translation of Jaya, Sanskrit version of Mahabharata, into Telugu. nannaya was the person to change telugu from an oral language to a language with script. Kandukuri Veeresalingam, who was a social reformer and also the author of Rajashekhara Charithra, the first Telugu novel, was also from Rajahmundry. Shri Avasarala Rama Rao, a founding member of the Jana Sangh and leading lawyer in the 60s, was from Rajahmundry. Ravi Kuchimanchi, founder of AID (US based NGO), is also from Rajahmundry.
Geography

Attractions
The biggest attraction in Rajahmundry is River Godavari. The two bridges are the most attractive long bridges found in Andhra Pradesh. There are many beautiful ghats and parks on the river bank. Sir Arthur Cotton had great plans for Rajahmundry but he decided to build a dam in Dowleswaram due to its proximity to a hill that suited his purpose. The dam consisted of four divisions: Dowleswaram Division, Ryali Branch Division, Madduru division and Vijeswaram division. This was in all 900 yards (800 m) long and 9 feet (3 m) high. It was a great moment in the life of this great man to achieve this rare feat. The Godavari lost a lot of its fury and was able to generate fourfold revenue through irrigation and Godavari district suddenly jumped from being a poor district to one of the richer ones, second only to Tanjore. Asia's largest rail-cum-road bridge on the river Godavari linking Kovvur and Rajahmundry is considered to be an engineering feat. The First Godavari Rail Bridge was built in the year 1897, under the supervision of Er. Walton, a British Engineer, across the mighty River Godavari connecting East Godavari with West Godavari. Stretching for three kilometres, constructed with stone masonry and steel girders, this bridge served the trains plying between Chennai and Howrah. With the increased traffic in goods and passengers, a rail-cum-road bridge was built a quarter century ago across the downstream of the river. The Dowleswaram bridge across the Godavari is seven kilometres south of Rajahmundry. Rallabandi SubbaRao museum has an amazing collection of artifacts including coins, sculpture, pottery, inscriptions and palm-leaf manuscripts.
